The mineral veins of the Joá stone (Joatinga beach, on the west side of Rio de Janeiro) are mimicked in the wear marks on the ‘Cangaço’ trousers and vest, which reinterpret the silhouette of the cowboys of the Bahian Sertão. Using manual processes of cutting and dyeing used jeans, Renata gives the ensemble an unparalleled leather effect, in which the colours are more intense in the most worn parts than in the rest, thus revealing the pieces’ previous life.
